Nov 6-12th: World Flight 2006

It’s nearly that time of year again folks – World Flight – one of VATSIM’s premier events!

From Monday, 6th November through to Sunday, 12th November, six fully-crewed flight simulators will circumnavigate the virtual globe in real time. Located across four continents, the simulators are brought together by VATSIM community spirit to raise money and awareness for worthy causes such as Orbis and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

A mini-ATC facility featuring three replica TAAATS consoles will again be in operation from World Flight Australia headquarters in Sydney to provide our simulators and support flyers with a rostered 24hr ATC service where local ATC is not available.

So click through to your local World Flight crew’s homepage to download all route and flight planning information kits so that you can join in this fantastic experience – and of course, please consider making a donation to the charity of your local crew.

Great flying – great ATC – great company – great charities!

Oct 29th: Welcome back Egypt vACC

Egypt VACC is proud to announce its restructuring plan and coming back to VATSIM stronger than ever; with more Egyptian controllers dedicated to our hobby with their mind set to make Egypt VACC the place of high quality ATC on VATSIM.

Egypt VACC would like to invite you to join our “Welcome Back Egypt VACC” event, taking place on Sunday, 29th October 2006 at 1600Z. Expect FULL ATC at Cairo Intl. (HECA) staffed with all Egyptian controllers for four hours. In addition, two CTR controllers will be online to make this event “as real as it gets.”

Cairo Director (HECA_APP) will be staffed by real ATC who controls HECC_CTR in real life. Expect many holdings, so please take the time to download HECA charts from the airport page here. You can also download HECA SOP from the same page.

Since some of Egypt’s stations have different radio callsigns than the usual, here are the radio callsigns along with frequencies for ATC stations at HECA.

HECA_DEL (Cairo Pre-flight): 120.100
HECA_GND (Cairo Ground): 121.900
HECA_TWR (Cairo Tower): 118.100
HECA_APP (Cairo Director): 119.050
HECA_CTR (Cairo Control): 127.700/124.700

These callsigns/frequencies can also be found at the airport’s page mentioned above.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Egypt VACC Director: acceg1(at)egypt-vacc.org

Looking forward to providing top notch ATC services for you.

South East RTS (UK) Summer Real Ops Day: Oct 22nd

VATSIM-UK in conjunction with South East Regional Training Scheme proudly present the summer edition of their bi-annual Real Operations Event, and this time the hot English summer sun has got to them, as this event will last a full day!

The SE-RTS Real Operations day will take place on Sunday October 22nd from 0500z to 2300z (EGKK movements start from 0800z), allowing for a full days worth of movements from the busiest day in UK Aviation, the Summer Bank Holiday. Three major airfields will be manned, these will be the worlds busiest single runway airport London Gatwick (EGKK) and two south coast regional airports of Southampton (EGHI) and Bournemouth (EGHH). This year’s event involves over 750 planned movements into and out of the three airfields, with real world flightplans from this summer.

This years movements include flights operated by Britten Norman Tri-landers to Tupolev 154’s and Boeing 747’s, from small regional carriers to major UK, European and International Carriers.

To make this even more realistic from our previous three events, for the first time at our event we will be enforcing all NOTAMs (Notice to Airman) and operating ATC units in accordance with standard opening times.

Booking is available now through our website at http://serts.evvivasystems.co.uk . To book, simply register with the system, then book the flight or flights you wish to operate.

Taipei and Shanghai Fly-in : Oct 21st

Due to the political situation between Taiwan and Mainland China, the
air connections between two regions was terminated around 50 years ago. The connections have been rebuilt in recent years. For this reason, VATROC and VATPRC are going to present "the Cross Strait Flight" Fly-in between their commercial centres Taipei (RCTP) and Shanghai (ZSPD). It only takes 90 minutes to reach either side directly.

Come and enjoy the express service that we have prepared for you. Further information is on our Fly-in website http://www.vatroc.org/chinese/event/061021/.

FS Conference Fly-in at Paderborn EDLP: Oct 21st

Become a part of the exhibition; fly to or from EDLP.

VATSIM events RSS feed

VATSIM (the Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network) holds many events and fly-ins. At present the adverts and notices are scattered widely around the websites and forums. This site is my first attempt to see if we can provide an RSS feed listing forthcoming events organised by VATSIM
